Questions
Frequently asked questions.
- Does a name determine someone's future?
- No. Nothing on this platform predicts destiny. We use the language of calling, aspiration, prayer, character and hope — never guarantee. This is reflection, not fortune telling, prophecy or numerology.
- Are child profiles private?
- Yes. Every child profile is private by default. Birth dates, photographs, journal entries, prayers and milestones are never exposed through public URLs and member profiles are never indexed by search engines.
- Where do the meanings come from?
- Each entry is editorially reviewed and holds internal source notes. Where a meaning is uncertain or disputed among scholars, we say so on the page rather than choosing one reading and presenting it as fact.
- Do I need an account to search names?
- No. Name search and every public name page are free and open. An account is only needed to save names or create a Name Profile.
- Is this only for expecting parents?
- No. Many people arrive to explore their own name — its origin, its story, and what they want it to stand for.
- How many names are in the directory?
- A sample of 15 names is live while the full collection from They Shall Be Called is prepared for import. Sample data is labelled wherever it appears.
